Energy Technology Policy Division Head, International Energy Agency
Mr. Gagné is the Head of the Energy Technology Policy Division of the International Energy Agency, leading the strategic design of the Agency’s analytical work on energy technologies, policies and strategies. He promotes innovation and supports the IEA international collaborative work on energy technology research and development. Mr Gagné started his career as a development engineer in the aerospace industry, and then moved to the public sector, acting as a Canadian Government expert on energy efficiency, propulsion systems and environmental technologies. Mr. Gagné also was the Canadian representative on the IEA Advanced Motor Fuels Implementing Agreement (IEA-AMF), an international technology collaboration programme, where he served as Chair of the Executive Committee.Prior to joining the IEA, Mr. Gagné was the senior manager of Advanced Transportation Fuels and Technologies in Natural Resources Canada’s Canmet ENERGY, where he managed research, development and demonstrations (RD&D) programmes related to clean energy technologies, particularly in the transportation sector. A Masters of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering graduate, he has over 15 years of experience in varying fields related to energy and transportation.
